Listening to the crowd receptions that AB de Villiers has commanded throughout the Proteas' tour of India, it's safe to say that he has secured 'megastar' status.

And Twitter confirms just that.

De Villiers now has more Twitter followers than any other South African.

De Villiers' current 2.97 million Twitter follower tally has seen him move ahead of new Daily Show host Trevor Noah, who has slipped to second with 2.77 million.

De Villiers' team-mate Dale Steyn may be the world's No 1 Test bowler, but his 1.85 million followers sees him place second among the Proteas.
