Mdantsane boxer Macbute Sinyabi returns to the ring less than two months after his last bout when he takes on Indonesian Rivo Rengkung at the Emerald Casino in Johannesburg this evening.

The 29-year-old was recently in action in June when he scored a second round knockout win against Tanzanian Francis Miyeyusho to retain his IBO Intercontinental featherweight crown.

However, the fight was a farce as Miyeyusho fell the moment a clean shot connected.

Now Sinyabi will take on another boxer with an appalling record when he faces Rengkung.

The 32-year-old has lost 22 bouts and drawn six with only 34 wins.

He has never won a title in all his 62 bouts fight record littered with nondescript fighters.

The only recognisable name in his ledger is Australian Jack Asis who knocked him out despite coming to their fight with 18 losses.

Ironically, Asis will headline the show when he defends his IBO junior lightweight crown against South African former two time IBF champion Malcolm Klaasen.

Sinyabi failed to win his lone title challenge when he was stopped in five rounds by former stablemate Lusanda Komanisi in an IBO featherweight title clash.

He has been chasing for another bite at world honours even though his camp is still wary of putting him against Komanisi again.

Other East London boxers on the bill include once promising young boxer Fikile Mlonyeni who will face Thabang Ramagole in a flyweight scrap.

Duncan Village’s Unathi Gqokoma challenges Bongani Mahlangu for the IBF international junior featherweight belt while Lady Frere-born Toto Helebe will also be in action against Filipino foe Jhon Gemino for the WBA international crown. — DDR
