END OF THE ROAD : Striker Bongani Ndulula, left, has been released by Chippa United after failing to convince coach Dan ’Dance’ Malesela to give him a run
Anyone writing off out of contract striker Bongani Ndulula is doing so at their own peril.

This is the message coming out of his camp following the termination of his contract by Chippa United this week.

In fact, his agent Tim Sukazi of Quality Talent Sports told the Daily Dispatch yesterday that they are already in talks with two Premier Soccer League teams with the hope of securing a contract for him.

The Chilli Boys announced on Tuesday that Drogba, as the Aliwal North-born striker is known in football circles, would no longer be part of its setup.

When Ndulula was unveiled as a Chilli Boys player in July last year by club chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi, alongside 12 other new recruits, it was expected that the former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs goal poacher would rekindle the form that earned him a national call-up – but he failed to make his mark at the Port Elizabeth-based outfit.

The 27-year-old former Bafana Bafana international failed to convince Chippa coach Dan “Dance” Malesela to give him a run.

Despite failing to impress at his two latest clubs – Chippa and Chiefs – Sukazi still believes his client has a bright future ahead of him.

“There are two PSL teams that we are currently in talks with but we can't divulge any details at this stage.

“He is far away from being written off. I think he still has a long and bright soccer future,” he said.

Sukazi said an announcement regarding Ndulula's future will be made before the PSL restarts next month.

“Drogba will be back with a bang before the end of the mid-season break, definitely. I promise you that.”

The once prolific striker sounded relaxed when he briefly spoke with the Dispatch.

“Relax, I'll find a team before the season restarts but speak to my agent,” he said.

When he burst onto the PSL scene during the 2009/2010 season, Drogba was banging in the goals to an extent that years later former Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba chose to play him ahead of regular goal scorers at their clubs while he was struggling to rattle the back of the net while at AmaZulu.

His contract with Chippa was due to end at the end of the season but his stay was cut short.

“The club would like to thank Bongani Ndulula for his professionalism throughout his short stint in Port Elizabeth.

“The player carried himself as a professional and had a good relationship with the supporters,” the club said in a statement.

“We would like to thank him and his management team for the manner in which they handled the negotiations between the two parties.

“We wish the player all the best in his future endeavours.”

Meanwhile, Chippa will be back in action on February 14 against African champions and 2016 CAF club of the year Mamelodi Sundowns at Mdantsane’s NU2 Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

The game against the PSL defending champions will be one of three that the side will play in East London.

Chippa will also welcome PSL title contenders Bidvest Wits in Mdantsane in what promises to be a nail-biting affair on March 15.

It will then wrap up its games at the Sisa Dukashe with an encounter against Ajax Cape Town on May 6.
