Mdantsane's Sisa Dukashe Stadium is set to make history when it hosts its first night game when Chippa United entertain defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in what should be a thrilling PSL game on Tuesday.

The stadium was declared fit to meet the minimum PSL requirements after the metro made a few touch-ups to the venue last year – paving the way for the three Premier League games.

In December, Dan “Dance” Malesela’s charges beat Highlands Park 2-0 in the first game. Dance will be hoping to put the African champions to the sword before hosting Golden Arrows 10 days later at Sisa Dukashe.

The last confirmed game at the venue will be on May 6 against Ajax Cape Town. However, with the EC Bees keen to take their Nedbank Cup last 32 encounter against Orlando Pirates to Mdantsane, Sisa could host at least four games this year.

But while the PSL gave Sisa Dukashe the thumbs up last year, the game against the Brazilians will be the first that it will be played at night.

All the lights are in a working condition and the pitch is perfect for free-flowing football.

The groundsmen were putting the final touches to the field yesterday.

BCM mayor Xola Pakati told the Daily Dispatch yesterday that it was all systems go for the highly anticipated showdown.

“In terms of our state of readiness for the game against Sundowns, we are fine. In fact, we are ready just like any other field. It is all systems go,” he said.

“We are very happy because this will be the very first game that will be played in the evening at Sisa Dukashe.

“We are bringing the African champions and PSL champions to the people of Mdantsane and the greater BCM.”

The Chilli Boys are unbeaten in East London and started their Mdantsane venture with a convincing win against Gordon Igesund’s men in December.

The Port Elizabeth-based team has also enjoyed good support from the top flight starved BCM fans.

Pakati is confident that Tuesday’s game will not be any different especially since the Pitso Mosimane-trained outfit is one of the so-called “big three”.

The mayor said he was hopeful that the metro would continue being a happy hunting ground for the Chilli Boys.

“BCM is their home away from Port Elizabeth. We would like Chippa to win so that they will continue to bring more games to the metro.

“We are centrally placed in the Eastern Cape so them bringing their games to the metro is good,” said Pakati.

The 12thman will be crucial for the Eastern Cape side if it is to get the better of the Chloorkop team.

“Since it will be Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, people must take their partners to the game to celebrate their love and to enjoy the beautiful game.”

Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
