Taking on the best cricket team in the country proved to be a challenge too big for Hudson Park High School as they crashed to a heavy defeat against St Stithians in the final of the Coca Cola Schools T20 Challenge in Stellenbosch this afternoon.

Coastal Focus School representatives Hudson produced a fantastic effort to reach the final, however fell to a big eight wicket defeat after a poor batting effort gave their bowlers no chance.

Hudson's SA U19 bowler Akhona Mnyaka however received a massive honour when he was named Coca Cola Hero of the day for day three and then subsequently Coca Cola Hero of the tournament.

This was after he produced a match winning bowling performance to give Hudson an exciting last ball one run win over Cobras reps Wynberg boys in their semifinal clash earlier in the day.

The other East London side in the competition, Warriors representatives Selborne College lost the plate final against Titans reps HS Centurion on Sunday morning.

They lost their final match by just four runs which meant that they finished sixth out of the eight teams in the competition, which was an impressive effort from them in their first appearance at these school finals.
