No free entry to Chiefs, Chippa game at Sisa Dukashe

Chippa United has squashed rumours that entry to tomorrow's Premier’s Cup clash with Kaizer Chiefs at Sisa Dukashe Stadium is free.

Leading up to the much-anticipated pre-season game, rumours have been rife on social media with users circulating messages of “free entry” at the 14 000 capacity stadium.

The Chilli Boys, Buffalo City Metro (BCM) and the National African Football Supporters Association (Nafsa) called for fans to ignore the rumours and buy tickets.

Chippa spokesman Luthando Zibeko said there was no truth to the rumour and encouraged fans to buy tickets at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers stores.

He said tickets for children aged 12 and younger are R20 while adults will pay R60.

“People should go to Computicket and if they are in Mdantsane tickets are still available at KwaJekwa Garage but it’s only a few left.

“We encourage our supporters to purchase valid tickets for the game so that we can ensure that security is up to standard,” he said yesterday.

Zibeko said security has been beefed up and fake tickets will be detected by scanners. Authorities have also said security inside the NU2 venue will be tough with close to 200 police officers and security guards. No tickets will be sold at the stadium. “We want this event to be a success the Eastern Cape province can be proud of,” Zibeko said.

General manager at BCM mayor Xola Pakati’s office, Sthem biso Khanyile encouraged fans to go to the stadium on time.

“People have been told on all platforms available that tickets are available and there is no free entry. If tickets are sold out, people should watch at home because the game will be televised.

“It is irresponsible of the people spreading the rumours of free entry because we are talking about human lives here, especially after last weekend’s stampede at FNB Stadium. To start to paddle such information is tantamount to causing chaos. That is very reckless,” he said.
