Zanoxolo Mdluli scored the only goal for the young Ke Yona squad during their Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge clash against SuperSport United at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa yesterday.

Matsatsantsa wanted to take an early lead in the first 10 minutes but the young Premier Soccer League hopefuls also wanted to be noticed by the potential clubs and they fought back with everything they had.

Although the boys seemed to lack confidence, at times they displayed both skill and talent, like when Lesley Mkhize ran forward with the ball so he could get a clear shot on target but chose to kick at the centre line instead.

Also, Port Elizabeth born Bongani Sam made a clean pass to Thabang Ximba who was not too sure whether he should go for goal, so giving the Matsatsantsa defence time to react and snatch the ball. Mkhize was later cautioned for holding onto Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s jersey.

Matsatsantsa didn’t play their second string side as experienced campaigners like Tefo Mashamaite, Thuso Phala and Kingston Nkhatha also featured.

Alice born and Golden Arrows hopeful Makhosandile Plaatjie was caught offside but that didn't deter him as he went forward again and managed to pass to Mduduzi Manyama who couldn't finish the job as he felt the pressure from the Matsatsantsa defence

Phala and Aubrey Modiba scored for SuperSport.

In the last 20 minutes it was blow by blow as both teams looked desperate for goals until Zanoxolo Mduli, a Platinum Stars hopeful, scored the only goal for the Ke Yona side, making the final score 2-1.
