Ellis is on the Sasol League Roadshow and will be conducting workshops at the Buffalo City Metro Stadium to help Sasol League coaches better harness local talent for the national team.
Banyana mentor will be interacting with the provincial coaches from 10am where she will have a question and answer session and she will then present a video to coaches where she outlines the national team’s selection criteria.
“We will be showing them what we look for in a player and in the afternoon there’s a practical session where we will be demonstrating some of the warm-up drills we do at the national team.
“We’ll also do some of the finishing we do at the national team and we’ll do a retention exercise they can perform daily – it doesn’t take up much time, but it strengthens the core of the body,” said Ellis.
Ellis tour will end with watching Sasol League final between Thunderbirds Ladies and Red Roses Ladies at the BCM Stadium tomorrow where she will be hoping to add some players to her database.
“This is an opportunity for us as selectors to scout for talent and primarily to get the winner of the two streams in the Eastern Cape, like we have in other provinces.”
The Cosafa winning coach said she would also be engaging the coaches on the challenges they are facing and how they can assist the national team if their players were called for national duty.
“With all due respect there’s a gap between the league and international football. Coaches need to know how they can better prepare players.”
