Warriors braced for Titanic battle at Buffalo Park

Franchise cricket is back in action at Buffalo Park this week as the Warriors gear up to host the Titans in the Ram Slam T20 competition at Buffalo Park on Friday night.

It is the first Warriors fixture of the season at the ground, with the teams two home matches so far, a Sunfoil Series draw against the Cape Cobras and a loss against the Knights in their T20 opener this past Friday both played at St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth.

East London cricket fans will thus be excited for the return of the Eastern Cape’s premier cricket side this week.

“We are really looking forward to the match, it is great to have Franchise cricket back at Buffalo Park and it should be an exciting match,” said Border cricket chief executive Thando Booi.

“I am expecting a good crowd at the game, the fans are still on a high after the Proteas game a few weeks ago and I am confident the fans will come out in their numbers to support the game.”

The Warriors will be aiming to bounce back against the Titans after losing their first game of the competition and will be eager to get their campaign back on track.

It should be a terrific matchup as the Warriors and Titans have a fantastic rivalry, including last season where the Titans beat the Warriors in both the one-day and T20 finals.

“I am confident the Warriors can do well, Buffalo Park has always been a good ground for them,” said Booi.

The Titans will however have momentum after a thumping win over the Lions on Sunday and will also have a number of current Protea stars in their line up including AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock, Farhaan Behardien and Aiden Markram, while Albie Morkel, David Wiese, Tabraiz Shamsi and Lungi Ngidi have all turned out for the national side at different stages.

Tickets for the Warriors v Titans match can be purchased online at www.ticketpros.co.za or at the ticket office at the stadium on Thursday with tickets costing R60 for adults and R30 for scholars and pensioners.
