The Border U19 cricket team got their Coca-Cola Khaya Majola week off to a rocky start as a poor batting display saw them stumble to 111 all out against Northerns at St Stithians this morning.
It could have been a lot worse for Border had it not been for the heroics of Border bowlers Akhona Mnyaka and and Sebastian Denison-Brown who came in with Border in all sorts of trouble on 52 for eight and shared in a superb 55-run partnership that took Border past the hundred run mark and gave them something to bowl at.
Mnyaka ended up being stranded on 42, while Denison-Brown occupied the crease brilliantly for his 11.
However it is still a well below par total and Border face an uphill battle to try and save the match.
The bowlers will take a lot of confidence out of the wicket which looks to be seamer friendly and they will be aiming to knock over Northerns for a low score.
