Bucks have now slipped to 15th spot on the log-standings with 13 points after their eighth loss against the determined Cosmos who are sitting at second spot with 28 points.

“We knew it was not going to be a walk in the park as Cosmos and we knew they were gonna come at us as they are chasing Highlands Park .

“We started pretty well and we were solid at the back, our defensive structure and organisation were in place, because we were aware that Cosmos has good wingers together with their captain Mntambo.”

Mapompo said they planned to avoid affording Cosmos breathing space into their half, because they knew they would be in deep trouble.

“During the first half the opponents didn’t create much chances and our young goalie Andile was wide awake – but we were not that good in our transition when we win the ball.

“We planned to play the ball very fast on the counter because since we playing away and it was natural that they were going to push us.

“But we’re not that good at doing this and even though we went to half-time nil-nil which was a good result for us.”

Mapompo said he was unsure what happens when their boys come back from half-time, “whether they tried because their concentration levels drop. We concede sloppy goals because even their first goal was a sloppy one, as Cosmos tried it in the first half but they only managed to pull it off later.

“Our intensity dropped but we kept pushing but we conceded a second goal, which was unfortunate because we had discussed the way that goal came. Even though that was the case we didn’t give up we pushed until we got a goal.

“But the problem for us is consistency because we play one game and then we go to another game and we are so poor. Because I’m not going to lie we need to fight and find ways to get out this worrying situation, but we just need to stick together.”
