Zondeki Reign Supreme in Amacal'egusha Final

Zondeki cricket club clinched an exciting win in the final of the annual Amacal'egusha Historical tournament against Vukani cricket club at the Amacal'egusha Oval just outside King Williams Town on Thursday afternoon.

Zondeki got over the line with just three wickets in hand after they had originally been on course to claim a comfortable victory, before a flurry of wickets turned it into a thrilling finish.

Batting first Vukani managed a below par 165 all out in 38.5 overs.

Middle order batsmen Yamkela Oliphant (26), Thobela Gqangeni (28) and Athi Mfazwe (22) all got  starts but were unable to kick on, while lower order batsman Ntsika Dwanya top scored with a well played unbeaten 39.

On the bowling front Camagu Mbangi starred for Zondeki picking up 3/24, while Luxolo Tsewu, 3/46, and Phaphama Fojela, 2/12, backed him up well.

Zondeki opener Lukhanyo Makula then played a superb innings, guiding his team to within just a single run of victory before he fell for a solid 50 runs, while Tsewu (49)  and Mbangi (35) completed fantastic all-round performances with entertaining cameos allowing Zondeki to cross the line in the 32nd over.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable match, watched by an appreciative crowd and Zondeki will hope to return next year to defend their title.
