Cosmos sinks hapless Bucks

Mthatha Bucks were relegated from the National First Division when they were thumped 3-0 by a ruthless Jomo Cosmos at the Mthatha Stadium today.

Amathol'amnyama went into the encounter in desperate need of maximum points to keep their hopes of avoiding the axe, but they were outclassed and outplayed by Jomo Sono's charges.

Ezenkosi are determined to finish at least third on the log and qualify for the promotional playoffs for a shot at PSL soccer next season.

After learning of their fate which was going back to ABC Motsepe League, Bucks coach Julius Dube was lost for words.

“The game was chilled in the first half, but then we made three mistakes that cost us three goals and those goals killed the boys.

“We came back but we didn't impose any threat towards them, we were just playing in front of them and they were managing the game,” said Dube.

Bucks will now prepare to host Real Kings at the same venue before going away to former coach Ian Palmer's Super Eagles at Goble Park before formally exiting the NFD to the third-tier league.
