CLARENDON HIGH

OLYMPIAD

In May, the Clarendon Girls' High School Grade 12 CAT students took part in Computer Applications Olympiad. This is a National Olympiad, with 10000 students taking part from all the provinces across the country.

Catherine Ball did extremely well in this Olympiad, coming second in the Eastern Cape and placed in the top 10 candidates in the country. Catherine has been invited to take part in the final round of the Olympaid which will be taking place in Cape Town on the 28th of June – only the Top 10 candidates from around the country were invited to the final round.

GRENS HIGH

NETBALL

The past weekend Grens hosted the Eastern Cape Netball Challenge.

Grens played the following matches: Grens U19A beat Brandwag 22-19, beat Framesby 21-19 and beat Nico Malan 21-16.

After they won the three matches they are now ranked first in the Eastern Cape.

SQUASH

The Border Schools Squash League Results have been released for term two. The College first team came third overall, behind Selborne College A and B teams. The rest of the results were as follows: 4th Stirling A, 5th Dale A, 6th Hudson Park High A and 7th Clarendon A.

STIRLING HIGH

SWIMMING

Stirling’s international swimming sensation, Lesley Blignaut, has been selected to join the Olympic Team on their Training Camp and Treviso Competition in Italy from 27 June to 11 July 2016. This is a phenomenal achievement for Lesley, who has been selected for national swimming teams on a number of occasions. Her dedication, hardwork and extreme determination have secured this opportunity for her.

SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING

Tayla-Jade van Huysteen and Emlynn Spogter have been selected for the South African synchronised swimming team to participate in the 15th Fina World Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships in Kazan, Russia, from July 9-13. They both represented their country in Australia last year in the World Championships.

HOCKEY

The following hockey girls have been selected for their respective provincial teams: Coastal U14: Bontle Thinyane, Tanya Mrewa, Madison Malherbe ( Non-travelling reserve). Coastal U16: Hlubikazi Qunta, Jenna Grey, Siliziwe Mxinwa, Xanthe Ibbotson, Emily Middleton, Brittney Middleton, Maliska Baartman. Border U16A: Fransisca Darkoh, Rozelle van Vuuren, Xanthe Ibbotson (Non-travelling reserve). Border U18A: Jemma Flanegan, Songo Jizana, Sarah Maritz, Michaela Smith, Dayna Harris (Non-travelling reserve), Tonia Jacobs (Non-travelling reserve), Lise Siebert (Non-travelling reserve). Boys who were selected for Border Hockey teams were: U14A: Cameron Rasmussen, U16B: Kian Parsotam, U16A: Siphosihle Saliwa. Congratulations to Tristan Luyt who will be going to Johannesburg to umpire in the Boys U16 IPL tournament.

RUGBY

Twelve of our boys have been selected for Border Teams. The Border U16A team will participate in the National Grant Khomo Week in Paarl and the following boys have been selected: André Nel, Tylo Adams, Morné Coetzee, Kwezi Dlamini, Siba Mqeni, Thabang Maifo, Sino Mafanyana, Sakhe Dingile. The Border U18 Academy team will participate in the Academy Week in Durban in combination with the Craven Week at Kearsney College are: Stephen Fourie, Ronaldo Leendertz and Tristan Popp. Well done to Sakoyisa Makata who has been selected for the Border U18A Craven Week Team.

NETBALL

Our netball girls have done extremely well over this season, especially the first team netball girls, who beat Hudson, Hangklip, Port Rex, Cambridge and drew against Kingswood. The U15A and U16A teams have made it through to Eastern Cape Championships. The U15 matches have been postponed and the U16 results were: Framesby lost 13-15, Brandwag lost 6-22, Nico Malan won 13-7. The following girls have made the Eastern Cape teams: U15 Siliziwe Mxinwa, U16 Lesley Blignaut, U17 Mihlali Mahlangeni.

BADMINTON

We also very pleased the following have been selected for the Badminton Border U19A team – congrats to Jemma Crocker, Justin Green, Megan Dickson and Peter McCausland.

SQUASH

The following squash boys have been selected for Border teams and will be playing in the Interprovincial tournament during the holidays: U14B: Jordan Staude, Chase Stewart, U16A: Keegan O’ Kennedy.

BIATHLE/TRIATHLE

The following Stirling athletes have been selected to represent the Eastern Cape at the SA Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Champs in Bela Bela on the June 25-27.
