Coach challenges Chilli Boys to dodge Arrows

Chippa United interim coach Dan “Dance” Malesela said his team needed to find solutions this week to help them win their Premier Soccer League match against Golden Arrows on Saturday, at Chatsworth Stadium (kickoff 3.30pm).

This comes after the Chilli Boys lost 3-1 to Bidvest Wits on Sunday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The defeat was Malesela’s first setback after stepping in as coach following the club management’s decision to place Roger Sikhakhane on “special leave” for misconduct.

Ahead of the encounter, the coach said Chippa needed to collect at least 40 points from their remaining games to reach their mandate which is finishing in the top eight this season.

Chippa are still on track as they have 17 games left which offers them a possible maximum 51 points to play for before the end the season.

However, they need to start winning games. Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende will go into the game oozing with confidence after thrashing Free State Stars 3-1 on Saturday.

Malesela, 50, said Arrows’ win could be a good motivation for side.

“Unfortunately for us they won by the same margin. It’s a good thing for them but it might also be a good thing for us to be hungrier and look at winning.

“We just have to find solutions during the week to see how we deal with Arrows. Ever since Clinton took over, one has never gotten the chance to see them play.

“They were not on TV this week. That is another challenge we have. We don’t even know what they are all about.

“But we will prepare for them and hopefully come up with three points,” he said.

The Bay side will be without their captain James Okwuosa who received his fourth yellow card against Wits and will be out for one match.
