Terry's Pheto's film opens RomAfrica Film Festival in Rome

Terry Pheto’s film‚ “Ayanda‚” opened up the second edition of the RomAfrica Film Festival (RAFF) at the ‘Casa del Cinema’ in Rome’s Villa Borghese park on Wednesday evening.

“It’s always such a privilege to have Ayanda screened at film festivals across the globe and to still have it feature at film festivals almost 2 years on speaks volumes to the relevance of content coming out of Africa and for that I’m extremely proud‚” said Terry in a statement.

“Having Ayanda open up the RomAfrica Film Festival is such an honour‚” she added.

Ayanda also opened the Durban International Film Festival 2015 (DIFF)‚a showcase of independent African cinema‚ and won the Jury Prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival 2015.

“Africa is the continent of the future and of the present‚ and film-making is a wonderful tool to talk about the great changes that are under way‚” the RAFF organisers revealed.

The four-day festival is part of the Italy-Africa Initiative.

It was presented at the Foreign Ministry with the Deputy Director General for Globalization‚ Raffaele De Lutio and diplomatic representatives from many African countries in attendance.
