A Morning Live interview with SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng‚ about the broadcaster’s plan to launch new TV channels earlier this week‚ took an unexpected turn when the SABC big wig took jabs at rapper AKA.
The SABC COO was on the popular breakfast show on Monday to discuss the channel’s plans to release four new stations. Anchor Leanne Manas extended the discussion to Twitter where viewers could ask questions but‚ as she admitted‚ the site was too busy discussing AKA.
Leeann brought this up as a potential opening for Hlaudi to talk about local content‚ but instead he took the opportunity to claim that the rapper owes his career to the SABC.
“They know the singer because of the SABC. Without SABC there is no AK (leaving out the last letter of the rapper’s name) so I think it is important to highlight that‚” Hlaudi told a stunned but laughing Leeann.

The rapper is yet to respond to the comments‚ and when contacted by Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment said that he was busy on a music video shoot and could not speak.
