Egypt to extend suspension of flights for two weeks from April 1 – minister

Egypt will extend a suspension of flights for two weeks from April 1, the minister for state information said on Tuesday.

Flights at Egyptian airports were suspended on March 19, and the stoppage had been due to last until the end of the month.

Flights allowing tourists to return to their countries have been allowed to continue. 

As of Tuesday afternoon, Egypt had registered 366 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 19 related deaths. Three senior officers in the Egyptian army have passed away in the past 24 hours. Egypt has already put in several measures in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country, including closing all schools, universities and nurseries since 15 March. The forced closure in in place until at least 28 March. The government has also banned large public events.
