TONS of seared meat were chomped on Heritage Day around Buffalo City Metro yesterday.

In 39 snap interviews around the city to find out how residents were spending the day, the words most used were: “relax”, “family”, “friends”, “chops” and “wors”.

Maxwell Dqomo of Mdantsane said Heritage Day reminded him of “something sweet, something sour” as it had both good and bad connotations associated with it.

Grazia chef Stefan van der Walt, whose distant relative sailed with Jan van Riebeek, and mechanic Owen Lentz said they braaied wors with seven mates “for the ancestors!” — mikel@dispatch.co.za
