A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a 23-year-old woman found hanged in her neighbour's outside toilet in Tamara, near King William's Town, police said today.
Police allegedly found the man's hat at the scene on Sunday and arrested him later in Gobozana, said Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa.
He could not explain the bruises on his body and his swollen tongue, or why his hat was on the scene, said Mawisa. He would appear in the Zwelitsha Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
