A GROUP of people had a lucky escape when two vehicles they were travelling in collided with each other and rolled, with one catching fire.

East London police on the scene said it was a miracle that the passengers had survived the crash with no injuries.

The accident caused massive traffic as it occurred during rush hour.

Dynamic Emergency Services spokesman Werner Dester said they were called to the scene just before 4pm.

“It looked like the cars were travelling behind each other near the Biko bridge on Settler's Waywhen they collided.

“One vehicle rolled and it caught fire but the passengers managed to escape. Luckily, no one was injured,” Dester said.
