Melice Jacobs, who was arrested in connection with the discovery of frozen baby bodies, appeared briefly in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Jacobs, 29, looked more confident yesterday than her previous court appearances where she appeared drained and exhausted.

The New Brighton resident had a short chat with her lawyer Mpumelo Notununu shortly before court proceedings started.

Minutes after court started Notununu and state prosecutor Luthando Feni confirmed they had agreed to the matter being postponed to Thursday for a formal bail application.

Jacobs faces four counts of murder and a concealment of birth charge in connection with the bodies of four infants, a foetus and three placentas found in two freezers in the New Brighton home in which she was living. She allegedly told police the bodies were of her own children. — lulamilef@dispatch.co.za
