President Jacob Zuma has appointed Kuben Naidoo as deputy SA Reserve Bank governor, the presidency said today.

The position became vacant when former incumbent Lesetja Kganyago was appointed governor last year, spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

Naidoo would assume his duties on April 1. He is currently an adviser to Kganyago and a member of the bank’s monetary policy committee.

Naidoo served as acting head of the secretariat for the national planning commission.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a postgraduate Diploma in Public Management from Wits University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
