Thousands of Nahoon parkrunners will know if they will get a new parkrun later today. They could be on track in the Lavender Blue area by next Saturday,  November 14.

Parkrun's Eastern Cape regional manager Bob Norris says they have one more meeting to go, mainly around logistics and parking.

Three businesses in the area stand to benefit; Lavender Blue, Pine Creek and Floradale nursery- restaurant complex.

Initially, the numbers of registered Nahoon parkrunners were put at 16 000 but they did not flock to Kidds Beach and Sunrise-on-Sea when the Nahoon parkrun collapsed in acrimony with Buffalo City Metro over an event fee and environmental impact.

The run won't be named after Lavender Blue. Norris says: “We have a couple of names on the drawing board.”

“Our wish is that it will be run next weekend,” he said, adding that Nahoon parkrun was not dead.

“We will continue to pursue ways and means of resuscitating parkrun at Nahoon which is iconic. People come from all around the world to run it.”
