Organisers of the the annual Buyel’Ekhaya Pan African Music Festival have vowed to beef up security this year to avoid a repetition of the chaos that erupted at the previous event.

The festival, now in its seventh year, has become the pinnacle of Eastern Cape entertainment and one of the most talked about music events of the year.

“The sound system we use for the festival is one that is used when international acts perform in the country. Sound is measured per square metre of people for it to be effective.

“We take our patrons very seriously and thus we endeavour to deliver what we promise,” she said.

This is also evident in the sterling lineup of award-winning artists, not just locally but internationally as well.

Audiences this year can look forward to performances by Zahara, Busiswa, Nathi, Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, Mi Casa, Caiphus Semenya, Thandiswa and Zonke.

The DJ line-up boasts the likes of Lulo Café, DJ Pastor and DJ Anda.

Mazwai said one of the things that had kept the festival relevant was that it provided an unprecedented atmosphere of fun and festive energy which ensured that patrons went away with a good experience of the event.

Buyel’Ekhaya festival will be held on December 20 at the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium from midday to 5am. Tickets are R200 for general access plus R50 for cooler boxes available from Computicket.
