Tuesday’s press briefing by the ANC at Luthuli House has reaffirmed that the ANC is in complete denial over the reckless and negligent actions of its President‚ Jacob Zuma‚ the Democratic Alliance says.

DA national spokesperson Refiloe Nt’sekhe said the ANC had chosen to defend its beleaguered President‚ rather than standing up for South Africa’s interests.

“The ANC has today put the ANC first‚ and South Africa second. The ANC continues to neglect the needs of South Africa as it hurries to defend one man: Jacob Zuma‚” Nt’sekhe said.

She added that public confidence in Jacob Zuma was at an all-time low‚ with loud calls for him to fall‚ yet the ANC refused to listen to the public outcry‚ and had refused to acknowledge its seriousness.

“The ANC does not listen to South Africans and it is an entirely out of touch party that has abandoned our common good.

“Instead today‚ the ANC chose to praise President Zuma for his flip-flop about-turn on Finance Ministers‚ which is evidence of its complete denial of the enormity of the economic crisis into which President Zuma has plunged our nation‚” Nt’sekhe said.

“For years to come our economy will remain hamstrung by the recklessness of President Jacob Zuma in removing Nhlanhla Nene and installing David Van Rooyen which the ANC confirmed today was seen as risking a massive impact on the economy before the announcement was even made.

“How the ANC can continue to defend Jacob Zuma‚ whilst admitting he caused a ‘bloodbath’ in our economy‚ shows the level of denial in the governing party.

“South Africa can no longer afford the recklessness of Jacob Zuma‚ and the denial of the ANC‚” Nt’sekhe added
