Blade to meet on violence in Joburg’s institutions of higher learning

A meeting with the minister on Wednesday will “enrich” the “understanding of the issues that had engulfed” the higher education sector.

Blade Nzimande will be in conference with the chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training‚ Yvonne Phosa‚ and its chief whip‚ Danny Kekana‚ “on the violence in institutions of higher learning in Johannesburg”.

“The committee takes the issue of violence so seriously that it will accord it all the attention it deserves‚” Phoza said.

That means Thursday’s scheduled meeting of the committee — to consider the Higher Education Amendment Bill- has been cancelled.
