Eastern Cape Transport MEC Weziwe Tikana took part in a roadblock along the N2 today as motorists travelled to different destinations for the Easter holidays.

Her message was clear: motorists should respect the rules of the road. "We say this every time and again that road safety is important. We urge motorists to respect the road and each other. This starts with the drivers. They must make sure they reach home safely," said Tikana.

She said there were other roadblocks in areas like Tsitsikamma and Aliwal North.

Other senior traffic officers and Road Accident Fund (RAF) officials were also there.

RAF had a message that "my road is your road".

"We say, let's respect each other on the roads. If we do that we will all be safe," said Bongiwe  Nyengane-Tyopo from RAF.
