They are the glue that keeps most families together and at times they neglect themselves while busy taking care of everyone else.

This Sunday, mothers all over the world will get to relax and get their moment to shine, even if it’s just for a day.

Here’s what some television personalities had to say about their mothers and the special day.

  • Thembisa Mdoda, host of Our Perfect Wedding

“Mother’s Day is big in my family, my mom passed away seven years ago so this is the day we spend with family.

“I will probably spend the day with family and celebrate each other as my sisters and I are all mothers.”

  • Zola Nombona, who plays Roxanne on Z’bondiwe on e.tv:

“Sadly I won’t be celebrating the day with my mother. She is in Mthatha and I am here in Joburg but she will definitely get a call from me as the last born. I will also send her a little something to spoil herself on this special day. My mother means everything to me and I’m blessed to have her in my life.

“She is always encouraging me and when I tell her I have auditioned for a role she always tells me I will get it.”

  • Linda Sebenzo, who plays Sharon Dlamini in Greed and Desire on Mzansi Magic:

“For me Mother’s Day is a day to reflect on a mother’s love and the love from my children. I’m blessed to still have a mother – it’s a day to revive our relationship. I plan on taking my mom to the spa and lunch. We often get so caught up in our day to day living that we often forget to appreciate the little things in life.”

  •  Karen Zoid, a coach on The Voice SA:

“Of all the roles I play in my life, the role of being a parent is the most important one. I don’t mind if I fail at anything else, but I don’t ever want to fail my child by not being a good mother. To all the mothers in South Africa, my wish is for you to live to see your children grow up,”

  • The Voice SA host Lungile Radu:

“Happy Mother’s Day to all our beautiful, strong mothers out there. We love and appreciate you.”

  • Siyabonga Radebe, who plays Mlungisi in Doubt on Mzansi Magic.

“This is a special day for me to celebrate my mother, although I feel it’s a day that should be celebrated every day, mothers are the best gifts in life and all those who are still blessed with mothers should always treasure them. It’s absolutely great that there is a day to celebrate women.”
