Calm has been restored at the University of Fort Hare Alice campus after students went on a rampage last night.
Student leaders this morning were in meetings with police officials and subsequently decided to instruct a crowd of students that were gathering outside the sports complex to disperse to their residences .
Midday not much was going on as more than 30 police vehicles kept a watchful eye on the situation.
Police confirmed to DispatchLive that 15 students -- four female and the rest male -- have been arrested. The arrested are between ages 19 to 35.
DispatchLive has learnt that the university has approached the Alice Magistrate's Court to obtain an interdict against the students disrupting the centenary proceedings.
