The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has failed to meet a 14-day deadline given it by the Democratic Alliance to respond to the party’s request as to why former correctional services commissioner Linda Mti was not prosecuted in 2009 for alleged corruption and fraud.

The request was made to NPA head Shaun Abrahams by the DA’s mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape in the coming local government elections‚ Athol Trollip.

“The DA has fought Mti’s appointment to NMB’s Safety and Security Head since it was first proposed by Danny Jordaan. As a convicted criminal and alleged fraudster‚ there is no place for Linda Mti in the higher offices of our Metro government‚” Trollip asserted.
