Heavy snowfalls blanketed several Eastern Cape towns as temperatures dipped below zero on Monday.

Several roads were closed due to dangerous driving conditions and snow in the Eastern Cape, as well as the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

Weather SA’’s Garth Sampson warned that heavy snow and rain will continue to fall in parts of the province. He warned: “Disruptive snowfalls are expected over the northern high ground of the Eastern Cape. Heavy rain is to be expected in places over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.”
