Two cases that recently caught the public’s interest were postponed in separate courts yesterday.

The Bhisho High Court yesterday listened to closing arguments in a burial dispute where two Tsholomqa families are fighting for custody of the body of Thembisa Dikileyo, 37.

Court papers were filed on Wednesday by the woman’s husband and father of her children. He is claiming the right to bury her while her parents are adamant they are the ones who should lay her to rest.

The ruling will be made tomorrow.

Dikileyo died two weeks ago in a car crash on the R72 between East London and Tsholomqa on her way home from work.

Meanwhile, in a separate matter involving a Potsdam couple charged with the murder of five-year-old Kungawo Mabusela, whose body was discovered in a shallow grave two weeks ago, the case was postponed for August 2 for the accused to apply for bail.

Siphelo Melfin, 31, and his girlfriend Nosikhumbuzo Mabusela, 27, appeared in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court yesterday for a formal bail application.

However, due to a congested court roll they were sent back to prison.
