The ANC is leading the Eastern Cape with 67.35% overall followed by the DA with 19.99% and the EFF with 4.81% of the votes.

In Nelson Mandela Bay the DA leads with 55.36% of the vote while the ANC has garnered 35.18% of the calculated vote in the metro.

In the King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipality the ANC has 65.06% followed by the UDM on 19.91% of the counted votes so far.

The EFF has won it's first voting station in the Eastern Cape. The EFF is leading the VD in Mbizana by 74.29%.

With three out of five voting stations counted the ANC leads Ward 2 in BCM with 83.36% followed by the EFF on 7.49%

Former Arrive Alive spokesman Tsepo Machaea is set to take Ward 6 in KSD as the ANC leads with 41.72% of the vote.

The DA has wrestled Kouga Municipality from the ANC with 57.04% going to the DA and 40.01% to the ANC

With 54% of the votes counted, the ANC leads with 52.31% while the DA has 29.17% of the national vote tally so far.

The DA is in the lead with 55.89%‚ followed by the ANC (36.7%) and EFF (4.27%) in Nelson Mandela Bay.

12:00 pm

The DA has lost a ward in Buffalo City Metro to the ANC, the latest official elections commission results show.

  • ANC provincial spokesman Phindile Mhiza who has becom Ward 3 Councillor got 47.04% of the vote while Patricia Williams (DA) got 34.5%. Economic Freedom Fighter Loyiso Mangisa secured only 13.48%.

Eastern Cape IEC head Thami Mraji says 95.5% in the province have been captured. More than 82% have been finished.

Mraji: Status of the results now 95.5% of results captured 88.4% audited 90.2% results scanned overall proportion completed 82.2%.

11 municipalities in the Eastern Cape have complete results. BCM is at 61% NMB is at 73%.

DA takes over Kouga Municipality, formally run by the ANC. This municipality includes: Jeffreys Bay‚ Humansdorp‚ Oyster Bay and Cape St Francis - borders Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth). The DA won with more than 57% of the vote to the African National Congress 40-odd%‚ marking a significant shift in power in what has traditionally been an ANC stronghold province.

At least 11 municipalities had complete results by midday yesterday. The ANC has retained 10 of the municipalities while the DA won Kouga.T hese include:

  • Umzimvubu local municipality where the ANC retained its control after it secured (ANC 77.15%, DA 7.2%, UDM 6.38%)
  • Inxuba Yethu in Cradock where the ANC received 58.4%, DA 39%
  • Ngqushwa with ANC leading with 84.4%, EFF 7.99%
  • Great Kei (ANC 70.78%, DA 19.13 % as well as an Independent (4.93%). The independent also secured one PR seat in the Council
  • Koukamma (ANC 50.87%, DA 43.66%)
  • Kouga (DA 57.04%, ANC 40.1%)
  • Maletswai-Gariep (ANC)
  • Camdeboo which is a combination of Graaff-Reinet, Ikhwezi and Baviaans municiplaities (ANC 51.05%, DA 46.59%)
  • Blue Crane (ANC 60.4%, DA 37.57%)
  • Ndlambe (ANC 62.19%, DA 30.79%)
  • Sundays River (ANC 71%, DA 21%)

With 79% of the vote tallied the DA still leads in Nelson Mandela Bay with 50.1% and the ANC is following with 38.91%.

At the Umzimvubu local municipality the ANC retained control after it won by 77.15%, and DA got 7.2% with the on UDM 6.38%.
