After selection panel’s grilling‚ deputy public protector blocks critic on Twitter
He couldn’t avoid the uncomfortable questions of the selection committee‚ but it seems that Deputy Public Protector Kevin Malunga could avoid unwelcome criticism on social media.
This‚ Twitter user Shahrina @sramphaul suggested‚ would make him unsuitable for the job of public protector.

“My tweets clearly affected Kevin Malunga & I’m just an ordinary citizen #PublicProtector”.
@sramphaul — who describes herself on her bio as “South African. Agnostic. Liberalist. Unapologetic.” – was blocked after a series of tweets aimed at Malunga‚ among them:
“Kevin Malunga‚ you have so many skeletons in your closet‚ you should run for President! #PublicProtector is too clean a post for your kind”.
“Kevin Malunga‚ “you’re the weakest link‚ good bye” #PublicProtector (Yes I know you’re reading the hashtags)”.
“@KevinMalunga washed his dirty laundry in public‚ his over confidence was to his detriment #PublicProtector”.
Malunga didn’t have it much easier from the ad hoc parliamentary committee set up to interview the shortlisted candidates for the job of public protector‚ especially after it emerged it had received a letter from the State Security Agency saying he lacked the requisite top secret security clearance for the top job.
Panellists‚ however‚ disagreed on what level of clearance the public protector was required to have‚ and concern was also raised over the fact that the letter was received a week after the deadline for submissions on the shortlisted candidates had closed. – Tiso Black Star Group Digital
