The body of a King William's Town man lies unattended for hours

The body of man has been lying uncollected on a village streets outside King William's Town after he was shot dead allegedly by police this morning.

The man, who cannot be named as his relatives have not yet been notified of his death, was shot dead during a scuffle between members of the King William's Town police and the community.

Residents told DispatchLIVE that police arrived at Masingatha village this morning to arrest four men in connection with a murder that took place in the village last night.

However, police were barred from leaving the community with the suspects. They then allegedly opened fired and instantly killed the victim, according to the residents. They fled the area with the four suspects.

Police said they were still collecting information and would not immediately comment.

The situation is tense as villagers, including children, were standing near the body which was covered with a blanket.
