Police try to keep EFF and DA supporters apart in Pretoria marches
Police have their hands full in the Pretoria city centre as members of the Economic Freedom Fighters are marching in various parts of the city‚ close to where supporters of the Democratic Alliance have gathered.
While large numbers of EFF members gathered in Church Square‚ the DA members converged on the corner of Sophie de Bruyn and Francis Baard streets. But some of the EFF members are now moving in groups to other roads in the city.
The police have closed Francis Baard street to separate the two political parties as EFF members are marching up and down Bosman street‚ just 100m away from the DA gathering.
Almost all shops have closed and the only people making money are those selling food and EFF regalia in the streets.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane said today was crucial day in history as it could change the direction of the South African future.
He lashed out at President Jacob Zuma‚ describing him as the country’s number one thief who sold the country to the influential Gupta family.
