Two more South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board members have resigned‚ leaving chairman Mbulaheni Obert Maghuve as the only non-executive member.

President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday accepted the resignations of Vuyo Mhlakaza and Aaron Tshidzumba‚ the Presidency said.

“The president has thanked the two former board members for their contribution during their tenure at the SABC and wished them well in all their future endeavours‚” spokesman Bongani Ngqulunga said.

Maghuve has refused to step down. The board is meant to have 12 members‚ and needs nine for a quorum.

In October‚ board members Krish Naidoo and Vusi Mavuso resigned during an emergency meeting of Parliament’s communications portfolio committee.

This was after reappointment of former chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng as group executive for corporate affairs.
