A King Sabata Dalindyebo FET College student at the All Saints campus was arrested, but released later after he and his fellow students forced their way to the Ngcobo town-based campus this morning.

Students at the All Saints campus have boycotted classes since Monday last week. They are accusing the college of withholding their NSFAS funds.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Akhona Bavu said they want college to speed up the process of allocating their NSFAS funds.

He alleged that NSFAS had given the money to the college to fund students, but the campus was “dragging its feet to release the money”.

Bavu said some of the issues they wanted the college to address was that fact that there were students that were still not registered.

“Others are registered in incorrect courses. There is a mix-up of courses and the mix-up of names and surnames. It is all a mess. One cannot carry on while appearing on a course they did not register for,” he said.

Bavu said students marched to the town-based campus to meet with the campus manager, but were told he would be available on Tuesday.

“A campus staff  who addressed us said he would get back to us tomorrow with some of the issues we raised,” he said.

College spokesman Zigqibo Khahla was not immediately available for comment.
