A shoot-out between police and members of a heavily armed gang on the N2 between Kokstad and Harding has left several men dead on Friday morning.
Independent sources with knowledge of the incident said police had received information that a gang planned to rob an armoured cash-in-transit vehicle.
Police engaged the gang.
Reports from the scene suggest that as many as four men have been killed and several others were arrested.
