Eight suspects arrested in connection with Marikana shootings

Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the Marikana shootings in which 11 people were killed‚ Western Cape police said on Saturday.

The suspects were nabbed on the N1 freeway outside the Huguenot tunnel on Friday night‚ police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said.

“Teams comprising TRT‚ K9 and Flying Squad members as well as intelligence operatives pounced on a vehicle believed to be destined for the Eastern Cape and arrested the suspects. They are expected to appear in court soon‚” Potelwa said.
