Seven people have been arrested in connection to dagga possession in two separate incidents.

The first incident happened in Reeston, near Mdantsane, yesterday when police apprehended two men and a woman as they were offloading their merchandise.

Sixteen bags of dagga weighing 180kg were found in their vehicle after police searched it.

Police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala said the street value of the dagga has not yet been determined.

“At approximately 9.20pm on Wednesday, the flying squad stopped and searched a suspicious vehicle on the Black Road. We found a black plastic bag full of dagga,” she said.

In the second case in East London, police together with the provincial traffic officers, arrested four suspects after being found to be in possession of 17.5kg of dagga in the boot of their Toyota Tazz.  Three of them are men and one is a woman, and they are aged between 24 to 31.

“A case of dealing in dagga has been opened and the vehicle that was utilised has been confiscated,” she said.

The three suspects  arrested in Reeston will appear today in the East London Magistrate’s Court, while the other four will appear later this week.
