Parents of missing Dimbaza 16-year-old Cecilia Ngwenya have appealed to the public for help.

Cecilia was last seen by her parents on Thursday, November 16.

She had been taken to school by her father.

The Grade 11 pupil at Richard Varha High school did not return home that day.

Cecilia’s father, Joseph Ngwenya, said: “It is very difficult to sleep knowing that your child is somewhere out there. I ask myself a lot of questions: Has she eaten? Does she have a roof over her head wherever she is?

“I remember clearly the last time I saw her because I was the one who took her to school as it was raining.

“The community has been helpful. They have been looking for her and comforting the family,” he said.

Ngwenya said “What is most worrying is that she is not an outgoing person. She always stays at home, and is always the first to get home from school.”

Thobeka Ngwenya, Cecilia’s mother, said her heart was breaking.

“I can’t describe how I feel right now because I do not know where she is or what she is doing.

“I’m very sore.

“At first I thought she had gone to a friend’s place but when she didn’t show up on Thursday night I got worried,” she said.

“I reported the case to police station last week on Thursday, but they police said I must come back after 24 hours.”

King William’s Town police spokeswoman Captain Siphokazi Mawisa said police had no leads.

Mawisa called on anyone who could shed light on her disappearance to contact Dimbaza SAPS on (040)656-4300.
