A man was was killed after he was mauled by a pack of wild dogs at Grahamstown's Xolani township today.

Grahamstown police spokeswoman Captain Mali Govender said the police have opened a case of culpable homicide following the incident.

The 32 year old man succumbed to the severe dog bite wounds at Settlers Hospital.

"He had bite wounds on the torso, neck,arms and legs.

"The doctors tried to rescucitate him but it was too late he unfortunately succumbed to injuries," Govender said.

The vicious dog attack happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
