The Hawks in the Free State are looking for a Port Elizabeth man Andile Gxamza in connection with the March 2016 murder of former Moroka Swallows 1970s midfielder Alfred "Chencha" Helepi.

Hawks national spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said investigating officers believe that Gxamza, who has been on the run for three years, is hiding out in the Eastern Cape.

Helepi, who became a tavern owner after retiring from professional football, was shot twice in the chest on March 29 2016 while stepping out of a bath at his Bloemfontein home.

Gxamza, 33, is one of four men sought by the Hawks for the murder including three Lesotho nationals Lira Morienyane, 39, Ntabiseng Lempe, 34, and Alice Majake, 28.
