Department of energy and Necsa kick-started the Eastern Cape leg of the science career expo at Mdantsane Indoor Sports Centre.
Energy deputy minister Thembisile Majola was expected to grace the event but did not arrive with reports that the deputy minister was sick.
Necsa group executive Monde Mondi said the aim of the expo was to showcase career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
