Eight units at Currie Court apartment complex were destroyed by a blaze on Wednesday leaving more than a dozen people without homes. 

A team of 15 firefighters are currently battling the fire. Families told the Dispatch of how they lost everything in the blaze including clothes, furniture, passport and identity books. 

East London police spokesperson Captain Hazel Mqala said no loss of life has been reported at this stage and that ambulances are standing by in the event ofany casualties. 

Witnesses told the Dispatch of how under siege tenants at the triple-storey flats threw their televisions and clothes off the balcony of the top floor.
