48-year-old male suspect arrested for rape of female student in Alice

 A 21-year-old female, believed to be a student at one of the tertiary institutions in Alice, was raped on Saturday.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said: “There is information that the victim is a student, however we cannot confirm at this stage the institution where she is studying. Our investigation continues.”

Kinana said a 48-year-old male suspect was  arrested by Alice police for allegedly raping the 21 year old female.

“The two were at a house at the golf course when the incident happened,” he said.

Kinana said the suspect was expected to appear before the Alice Magistrate's court on Monday, facing a charge of rape.
