EC government to give food parcels to poor during lockdown

Three food parcels per household will be handed out for the poor at shelters and centres in districts after the lockdown kicks in. Social development MEC Siphokazi Mani-Lusithi will release the names of other centres where the parcels can be collected later on Thursday.

Three food parcels per household will be handed out for the poor at shelters and centres in districts after the lockdown kicks in.
At a press briefing held at State House in Bhisho, the department of social development released a list of shelters identified by the OR Tambo district municipality where food will be handed out for the poor.

These are:
- Goso Forest in Ingquza
- Port St John's in Mthumbana and Luxolweni
- Nyandeni in Mzomtsha
- KSD municipality — SOS, Ikwhezi lokusa, Khanyisa, Thembelitsha, Dr Sangoni Centre (former Santa),
- Mhlontlo Sinelitha rehabilitation centre in Tsolo.
Speaking to DispatchLIVE on the sidelines, social development MEC Siphokazi Mani-Lusithi said she would make available later on Thursday the list of other shelters and centres across the province.
