An accident on the R408 between Ngcobo and Dutywa near Xonya village claimed the lives of seven women when a LVD with 14 occupants overturned after the driver lost control of it. Seven others were seriously injured and transported to the All Saints hospital in Ngcobo.
Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose said it was alleged that the LDV was transporting the passengers from Ngcobo town to Nxamagele village when the crash occurred.
Binqose said transport MEC Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe has indicated that a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident will take place.
